Illegal caravan encampments
In Castres (Tarn) on June 7, about 100 caravans occupied the La Borde-Basse sports complex. Mayor Florian Azema cut water and electricity, stating taxpayers should not pay for illegal occupation. The municipality will file a lawsuit. Evacuation is difficult due to the lack of a certified parking area for large convoys. Participants are conducting an evangelical mission lasting about two weeks.
In Pont-d'Ain (Ain) on June 7, about 80 caravans broke the gates of a former rugby field and occupied it. Mayor Vincent Bourdoduc intends to file a complaint for trespassing and property damage. Also, 15 caravans occupied sports fields in Fareins, forcing the local football club to suspend training, and 12 caravans settled in Vonnas. Earlier, on May 31, over 160 caravans were recorded in Saint-André-de-Corcy.
Fatal motorhome crash
On June 7 around 11:15 AM on road RD309 in Parcé-sur-Sarthe (Sarthe), a motorhome left the road and hit a tree. The driver died at the scene; a passenger was hospitalized in shock. Preliminary reports suggest the driver suffered a sudden illness. The gendarmerie has opened an investigation.
