On Thursday at 3:56 AM, the Sandwich Fire Department responded to a camper fire at Peters Pond Park. A 30-foot travel trailer was fully involved, with fire extending to two additional 30-foot campers and two storage sheds. The bulk of the fire was extinguished within 25 minutes, with another 60 minutes spent on hot spots. One firefighter was transported for heat exhaustion; no other injuries were reported, and the campers were unoccupied. The cause is under investigation.
