Flooding in Stone County: evacuation and damage
Severe flooding in Stone County, Mississippi, caused significant damage to two RV parks — Mill Creek RV Park and Perk Beach RV Park. Water in some RVs reached chest level, vehicles were moved from their spots, and property was destroyed.
Residents evacuated by wading through waist-deep water and by boat. County rescue services conducted several evacuations. Mark Denton, who has lived at Mill Creek RV Park since 2007, said such flooding had never been seen before.
Many lost their homes, vehicles, and personal belongings. Victims need temporary housing, including options that allow pets. Damage assessment is ongoing.
