On the morning of January 5, a fire broke out at the San Matteo hospital parking lot in Pavia, Italy, completely destroying a Citroen-based camper van. The owner, who had purchased the vehicle about a month earlier, was in the emergency room at the time.
According to preliminary reports, the fire may have been caused by a gas leak from the kitchen stove. Witnesses reported hearing an explosion before the fire started. Firefighters and police responded to the scene. No other vehicles on the 600-space lot were damaged.
