The Kenai Planning and Zoning Commission voted 4-1 on Sept. 23 to reject Resolution PZ2026-29, which would have allowed a noncommercial RV park and campground with five sites at 1518 Tundra Rose Lane. Stacie Krause cast the sole supporting vote. Applicants Nicole and David Smith are under contract to buy the vacant 1.16-acre lot contingent on permit approval; they sought a seasonal spot for relatives. City staff recommended denial, finding the proposal inconsistent with rural residential zoning and the comprehensive plan, and citing traffic concerns: an Institute of Transportation Engineers model estimated five sites could generate about 25 daily round trips, compared with roughly 20 currently on Tundra Rose Lane. Neighbors opposed the commercial use and added traffic. The decision can be appealed within 15 days.
