Starship: Borgholzhausen resident builds self-sufficient motorhome

Constance police are searching for a motorhome driver who fled the scene of an accident at the Hegau interchange on April 7. The collision occurred around 1:00 PM when the motorhome, overtaking a truck, abruptly changed lanes and collided with a Volkswagen T-Roc. Authorities are looking for a medium-sized, light or white motorhome with a roof rack, possibly carrying bicycles.

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the updated Marco Polo camper van based on the Clase V. Key changes include a 10 cm increase in the pop-up roof height, new ambient lighting with ten scenarios, and an upgraded MBAC control system. The powertrain remains unchanged with three diesel engines ranging from 163 to 237 hp.

German manufacturer LMC has introduced the updated Innovan Pure 600 campervan model, targeting novice motorhome travelers. The 5.99-meter model based on the Citroën Jumper has a permissible weight of 3.5 tons and a base price of approximately 1.21 million Czech crowns. The interior includes a kitchen block, a compact bathroom, and sleeping accommodations for two to three people.

Dethleffs has introduced front-wheel-drive versions of the Globebus Performance T16 and T46 motorhomes for the 2026 model year. The T16 model starts at 77,999 euros, which is 17,000 euros cheaper than the four-wheel-drive version. The motorhome is based on the Volkswagen Crafter and features a diesel heater, with gas used only for the stove.

German manufacturer Ahorn Camp unveiled the new T680 motorhome at the CMT 2026 trade show, measuring 6.99 meters in length. The model features an electric lift bed measuring 2.00 x 1.50 meters and a large bathroom with a separate shower cabin. The motorhome is based on the fourth-generation Renault Master chassis, with production relocated to Italy following cooperation with the Erwin Hymer Group.

A sharp increase in diesel prices and construction work on mountain passes are affecting the cost of trips to Italy by motorhome. A comparison of four routes showed the cheapest option is via the Reschen Pass, with a total cost of around 120 euros, while the most expensive is via Gotthard, over 165 euros. In 2026, traffic on the Brenner Pass will be limited to one lane, and the Reschen Pass will be completely closed from September to November for final construction work.
