Finnish residents Elina and Juha Lahti converted an enclosed trailer into a camper for long trips. Previously they traveled in a van, but now use a trailer that, they say, suits journeys lasting several weeks.
Specs and cost
The camper was built in four months from a standard trailer weighing less than 750 kg. The body is plywood, uninsulated, equipped with a solar panel and a diesel heater. Costs were about 3000 euros, significantly cheaper than ready-made equivalents.
First trip and anecdote
The first trip lasted two weeks along a route through Eastern Finland to Lapland. During a stop in Mäntyharju, passersby jokingly mistook the camper for a horse stable.
