From Holland to Junín: Motorhome story ends with equipment donated to local firefighters

Marta and Marià left Barcelona 14 years ago, shipped their van to Argentina, and have been living a nomadic life ever since. The couple, known for the Furgo en ruta project, started their journey in Buenos Aires in 2012 and have traveled through most of Latin America. Their story gained visibility through a recent interview and social media posts, where they describe van life as a permanent lifestyle rather than a temporary adventure.

A mechanic from Mar del Plata left Argentina for Chile on December 31, 2025, towing a legal trailer, and returned on January 11 through the Icalma border crossing with a new Swift Firebrand motorhome. Gendarmerie officers found the discrepancy and opened a criminal case. As part of a compensation agreement, the man donated 20 Starlink satellite kits to border units. The motorhome was seized and handed over to customs.

On Sunday, at kilometer 122 of Provincial Route 70, a car collided with a motorhome towed by a pickup truck. The three occupants of the car sustained serious injuries and were taken to Jaime Ferré Hospital in Rafaela.

On June 19, the fourth VWondio Día Mundial will take place in Buenos Aires, with dozens of Volkswagen Beetles (Escarabajo) driving in a caravan through the city's main streets. The event starts at 8:00 PM at the Galileo Galilei Planetarium in Palermo, with the caravan departing at 9:00 PM. Councilor Mariano Puig has submitted a draft ordinance to the Municipal Council creating the 'Esperanza Turismo Rodante' program. The initiative aims to position Esperanza as a strategic destination for motorhomes and itinerant tourism, leveraging its location, road connectivity, and local services. The project includes feasibility studies for temporary parking and services for motorhomes, as well as partnerships with clubs, campsites, and gas stations. Puig stated that each motorhome stop generates economic activity through fuel, food, and retail spending.

On Saturday, June 20, owners of the Fiat 600 ('Fitito') will gather in a caravan to the Luján Basilica to celebrate Argentina's Flag Day. Organizers — the collector group 'Fiat 600 Los Hermanos' — invite all owners and enthusiasts to join the run, carrying Argentine flags. The meeting point is at the YPF station in General Rodríguez (Acceso Oeste) at 11:30 AM. The event combines tradition, patriotism, and passion for one of Argentina's most iconic cars.
