Authorities in Brittany's coastal communes, including Morbihan, Côtes-d'Armor, Quiberon, and Lamballe-Armor, are tightening motorhome parking rules due to a record influx of tourists. The restrictions target overnight parking and aim to combat illegal camping and ease road congestion.
However, according to the Comité de Liaison du Camping-car, a total ban on parking across an entire commune could be challenged in court. Associations cite freedom of movement and are contesting some bans. As an alternative, some communes, such as Val-André, are creating equipped paid parking areas with water, electricity, and waste disposal. Violations can result in fines, for example, 120 euros for unpaid toll road passage.
