Illegal motorhome parking surges in Tarifa's Estrecho Natural Park

In the El Llano de Sacaba area of Malaga, Spain, an informal settlement of motorhomes, campervans, and caravans has formed. According to local residents, the number of people living there permanently or semi-permanently has grown significantly amid the affordable housing crisis. Among the inhabitants are people with stable jobs, including police officers, who cannot afford to rent an apartment. Residents say they are forced to stay there due to a lack of alternatives.

Nissan has updated its commercial van range for the Spanish market, introducing Townstar, Primastar, and Interstar models. The lineup now includes factory camper conversions with sleeping areas, kitchenettes, and storage systems. Vehicles are available with diesel and electric powertrains, including Townstar EV and Interstar-e. Commercial models come with a warranty of up to 5 years or 160,000 km.

Spain's DGT has published Instruction PROT 2026/04, introducing different MOT frequencies for motorhomes and campervans. Motorhomes over 10 years old must pass inspection annually, while campervans over 10 years old require inspection every six months. The update also clarifies parking rules and introduces a new road sign (S-128) for waste water disposal points.

PcComponentes has introduced the Origial Airfeel Caravan 700, a portable window air conditioner with 700 frigories of cooling power, designed for camper vans, caravans, and small rooms. The unit mounts on a window frame without drilling and can be removed in seconds, consuming minimal energy for use with solar setups. It is currently discounted to 429 euros.

In the El Juncal neighborhood of Alcobendas (Spain), local residents expressed dissatisfaction with the parking of motorhomes linked to the Climbing World Cup. According to them, the parking exceeded permitted parameters: motorhomes occupied more space than allowed, and their owners placed furniture and other items on the street. The city council stated that it had already identified violations and is monitoring the situation, emphasizing the temporary nature of the measure, which is only in effect during the competition.

Alicante-based company Trota Mundos Camper rents and sells fully equipped campervans and motorhomes. Rental prices range from €100 to €150 per day depending on the season, with capacity for up to four people. The package includes kitchenware, bedding, and board games. The company is also hosting a charity event on June 6 in Alicante, where each Ford test drive will donate €30 to Alicante Gastronómica Solidaria.
