The minority group Insieme per Crescere has criticized the municipal council's decision in Castrocaro Terme to introduce a fee for camper parking. In their view, the area is neglected and has not received significant investment, and introducing a fee without improving services is a short-sighted step. They noted that camper owners contribute to the local economy by visiting restaurants and shops, and that free parking areas in Italy are often better equipped. They also pointed to the lack of alternatives for people living in their vehicles due to social difficulties.
Mayor Francesco Billi responded that the parking area is a civil protection facility, and the fee is part of a planned infrastructure upgrade, including the installation of new power supply columns.
