Gering considers ban on RV and caravan residency

Winnebago Industries (NYSE:WGO) posted net income of $14.5 million for the third quarter of fiscal 2026, down 17.6% year-over-year. Revenue fell 9.9% to $698.7 million. Growth in the motorhome RV segment was offset by declines in towable RV and marine divisions.

A man was rescued after a tree fell on his RV trailer during severe storms at Gibson RV Park in the Taylor Ferry area, Oklahoma. The man, identified only as Oliver, took cover in the back of the trailer when the tree struck. Firefighters from the Taylor Ferry Fire Department used chainsaws to remove limbs and pried open the door to free him. Oliver was uninjured in the incident.

On June 24, a burning RV exploded on the Beeline Highway north of Fountain Hills, igniting the Round Valley Fire. The blaze was contained to about 19 acres, and traffic was closed from 3:14 p.m. to shortly after 5 p.m. Crews from Fountain Hills Fire Department, Tonto National Forest, Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, hotshot crews, and aircraft responded.

The RV industry is growing, with van life accounting for about 15% of that growth. Searches for 'vanlife' have increased by 216% since 2018, and the #vanlife hashtag has over 5 billion views on TikTok. Class B motorhomes drive like a car, fit in standard parking spaces, and come equipped with a bed, stove, refrigerator, and sink. Rentals cost $100–250 per night, and overnight parking is available at Walmart, Cracker Barrel, Harvest Hosts, or BLM land.

A US family rented a Class C motorhome East to West Entrada via RVshare for a trip through Nevada. The average rental cost is just over $210 per night, excluding insurance (from $14 per night), fuel, campsite fees, and additional charges. Groceries for five days cost $333 for four people.
