After summer 2026, several communes in Finistère, Brittany, introduced restrictions on motorhomes due to increased incivilities: parking in dunes, abandoned waste and excrement buried in the sand. David Carrega, mayor of Ploudalmézeau, said that despite two dedicated motorhome areas, some drivers park in the dunes, an area affected by coastal erosion and marine submersion risk; barriers and gantries have been installed to protect flora and fauna. In Tréguennec (southern Finistère), the village no longer accepts such vehicles, and other communes may follow; in Saint-Nic, signs banning parking were put up this summer, but some drivers moved to the neighbouring beach. In Lampaul-Plouarzel, where visitor numbers rose by 30–40% in 2026, a remote management system is used to control the area and communicate with users; the mayor does not yet intend to ban access.
