Lobby group Campaign for Real Aires (Campra) has criticized plans by British local authorities to introduce a complete ban on overnight parking of motorhomes and campervans in popular tourist areas, calling them "short-sighted" and unnecessary given better infrastructure.
As an alternative, the organization proposes creating equipped parking areas modeled on European standards. A Campra survey of 6,731 owners found that 88% are dissatisfied with the availability of overnight spots in the UK. More than half a million such vehicles are registered in the country.
Campra cites a Spanish study from September 2023, according to which motorhomes have the lowest environmental impact among all tourism scenarios.
