Rouffach and Fessenheim: New Motorhome Areas in Alsace

A 31-year-old seasonal worker named Lucho converted a cargo van into living space after buying it from a friend for €1,000. He cited the lack of affordable housing in Douarnenez, where many properties are renovated for Airbnb rentals. According to him, seasonal workers face housing difficulties, which could lead to staff shortages in the city.

The second gathering of motorhome travellers, organised by the YouTube channel Un autre Voyage, took place from 28 to 30 August in Nant on the Larzac plateau. More than 30 crews from across France attended in motorhomes, campervans, 4x4s and vans. The publication interviewed five crews about their vehicle choices, from a self-converted Ford Transit to a heavy-duty Frankia motorhome. Interviewees also included owners of a Fuso 4x4 with a Skapade body, a Fiat Ducato L1H1 and a used Rapido motorhome priced under €30,000.

A caravan was completely destroyed by fire on the evening of Saturday, 5 September, on the D960 between Vadencourt and Aisonville-et-Bernoville. Firefighters from Guise were called at around 21:15 and extinguished the blaze. Gendarmes from Ribemont have opened an investigation to identify the owner and establish the cause; the caravan had no registration plate, and theft has not been ruled out. Traffic was alternated during the response.

The motorhome stopover in Auxonne, opened on 13 February on chemin de la Grande Prairie, recorded 1,575 overnight stays (about 3,700 people) in its first six months. Initially planned for 35 pitches, capacity was reduced to 30 due to the discovery of an old burial site during construction. The rate is 14.80 euros per night, and revenue has reached about 20,000 euros. About 60% of users are French and 40% foreign, mainly German. The site has a rating of 4.4 out of 5. No expansion is planned.

The Landes department is holding the first edition of the Automnales du foie gras et de l'Armagnac from 1 to 31 October. Six Routes du Foie Gras and five Routes de l'Armagnac have been created, including a Route de l'Armagnac au féminin. A 2.5-hour food tour in Hagetmau is available for groups of 8 to 20 people at €39 per person. A cocktail evening will take place on 2 October at the Green Oak pub in Mont-de-Marsan.

A couple from Côtes-d’Armor, France, claims they have been repaying a loan for over a year for a motorhome that has been immobilized. They bought a used Challenger motorhome in June 2025 for nearly €42,000 from a local dealership. According to the owners, the vehicle had faults including a non-working boiler, shutters, water leaks, and defective wipers, and was returned to the dealership after about 100 km. The dealership denies the claims, stating the motorhome is in working order and ready to go, and that the sale has not been cancelled. No legal proceedings have been initiated.
