The Point Arena, Calif., City Council on July 21, 2026, approved permits for a 10-site campground on city-owned land at Arena Cove, but stated it is not ready to build it. The parcel sits in a FEMA 100-year flood zone. The seasonal campground (May–October) would include seven tent sites, three tiny homes, and a space for a manager's RV. The permits are needed to qualify for construction funds from the California State Coastal Conservancy, but the council did not commit to construction. A council member noted the city already has more projects than staff can handle.
