Opening
A&K Sanctuary plans to open Samkani Camp on the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia in late 2027. The camp will consist of five Airstreamⓘ suites and a sixth Airstream used as a dining area and lounge.
Features
The Salar de Uyuni covers about 12,000 square kilometers, according to one source, and more than 10,500 square kilometers, according to another. Accommodation directly on the salt flat remains rare. Guests will be 20–30 kilometers from the nearest human presence. During the rainy season (December to April), the salt flat is covered by a mirror-like layer of water. The name Samkani means "the one who sees dreams" in the Aymara language.
Details
Each stay includes a private guide and driver, with more than thirty excursions available. Booking is possible as part of A&K's individual or group tours to Bolivia; the sales start date will be announced later. There are no direct flights from Europe to Bolivia except from Madrid; Uyuni can only be reached via La Paz.
