Officials say a long-planned RV park on 135 acres of former state open space in the Fort DuPont (Delaware) redevelopment project is back on track after the property appeared to be headed toward a potential Sheriff Sale. Todd Burbage, an RV park developer who purchased the state property near the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal from the publicly funded Ft. DuPont Redevelopment and Preservation Corp, said he has paid approximately $1.1 million earlier this summer and committed to paying the other $1 million owed for the property this fall. In 2021, Burbage purchased the property from the redevelopment corporation, which financed $2.1 million of the $3.6 million purchase price contingent on his development of the park. Burbage hopes to break ground in the next couple of months and restart construction to turn it into a campground.
