At Campers Cove RV Park & Canoe Livery in Alpena, Michigan, a summer collection of returnable cans and bottles generated $2,400 for the Susan’s Wish Fund at MyMichigan Health Foundation. Penny Barton and her son, Jonathon, gathered donations from campground guests and community members. Campers Cove owners Mark Hall and Judy Hall contributed an additional $600, bringing the total 2026 donation to $3,000. Susan’s Wish was established in 2012 in memory of Susan Yachik, Penny Barton’s daughter, who died from ovarian cancer.
