Japanese convenience store chain Lawson expands car overnight parking service

Lawson is expanding its pilot service allowing customers to sleep in their vehicles on store parking lots. Launched in July 2025 at 7 locations in Chiba Prefecture, the service will now be available at 28 stores across four prefectures. The fee is 2,500–3,000 yen per night, including electricity and restroom access. 80% of users are married couples aged 50 and older, and over half arrive in campers. No complaints from neighbors were recorded in the first year.
