American couple Laura and Barry, former Silicon Valley consultants, retired at 48 and set off on a camper journey. Initially planned as a six-month trip to Mexico, they ended up traveling for more than 20 years.
They bought a 1984 Westfalia and travel through California and Oregon. The couple also has a home in Guanajuato, Mexico. They practice home swapping and have visited Brittany, the Czech Republic, Ireland, and Colombia.
According to one source, in 1999 they rented out their home in Palo Alto and left for Mexico for six months, but eventually made travel a way of life.
