China sees surge in RV rentals ahead of May Day holidays

Land Rover has launched the updated Defender 130 in China. The model features a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine with 400 hp, can tow up to 3.5 tons, and is available in three trims priced from 90,990 to 102,990 yuan.

Chinese RV manufacturer New Gonow RV released its 2025 annual report after a month-long trading halt. Revenue reached 871 million yuan, while net profit fell 28.9% to 30.82 million yuan.

In Ju County (Rizhao, Shandong Province), interest in RV travel and camping is rising. Local authorities leverage cultural tourism resources and RV manufacturing advantages to stimulate consumption and promote a 'slow life' experience.

In bed car mode, the sleeping area measures 1.8–2.0 m in length and 1.2–1.5 m in width. The rear seats fold in a 4/6 split, creating a nearly flat surface with the trunk. The car is 4890 mm long with a 2810 mm wheelbase. The hybrid version offers a CLTC combined range of 1400 km, the EV version 510 km. Warranty: 6 years or 150,000 km.

A new RV campground has opened on Kaisha Island in Nantong, Jiangsu Province. The site is located within one of China's first sports and leisure towns. During the May Day holiday, the campground attracted numerous visitors.

The owner of a 2013 Volkswagen Touran converted it into a camper with a 1.9-meter flat bed. The vehicle was purchased for 30,000 yuan (about $4,000) and used for a trip along the Dandong-Hushan-Tianmenshan-Benxi route in October. The owner noted that the interior height allows sitting upright and seats are easy to remove.
