Chris Haslam, travel editor of The Sunday Times, said he prefers a tent and SUV to a motorhome after 26 years of traveling in motorhomes. He argues that motorhomes, weighing up to three tons and measuring 6-7 meters long, are difficult to maneuver, while setting up a tent takes less than five minutes. Haslam also believes that motorhomes, as 'bungalows on wheels', limit contact with nature. In 2025, France saw 94,369 new and used motorhome registrations, a 2.46% increase from the previous year.
