France will adopt an EU directive from January 1 allowing category B licence holders to drive vehicles up to 4.25 tonnes instead of 3.5 tonnes, affecting motorhomes and large vans. At the same time, the Paris Motor Show revealed electric vans suitable for camper conversions: the new Trafic e-tech with 470 km of range, the Hyundai Staria with 430 km, and the Mercedes VLE with 648–708 km. A full tank of diesel for a Fiat Ducatoⓘ now costs over 200 euros, adding to the case for electrification.
