Liu Peijin, 69, from Shandong province, has been traveling across China since 2014 in a self-converted minibus with his wife, who lost mobility after a stroke in 2010. In 2014, he bought an old van and converted it into a living space, installing two beds, a kitchen, heating, plumbing, and adapting an air conditioner.
Over 11 years, the couple visited 31 provinces and regions, including Xinjiang and Tibet, covering more than 100,000 km. In May 2025, a video of the man feeding his wife at Sayram Lake (Xinjiang) received 300,000 likes. Despite the challenges of caring for a bedridden patient, Liu continues his travels, believing life on the road is better than in a hospital.
