Starting July 7, 2026, all newly registered motorhomes in the EU must comply with the full GSR II safety package. This applies to light motorhomes up to 3.5 tonnes and includes systems such as intelligent speed assistance, driver drowsiness warning, emergency braking, and more. For DIY conversions of older vans, this may mean the end of obtaining motorhome status, as retrofitting these systems to older bases is technically and economically unfeasible.
