Campervan Modification in Indonesia: What Is Allowed and What May Lead to Fines

Bupati (regent) of Batang Hari, Muhammad Fadhil Arief, officially opened the 5th Camping Bareng Se-Sumatera event organized by Campervan Indonesia at Taman Tapah Malenggang. The two-day gathering on June 27–28, 2026, attracted hundreds of Campervan Indonesia members from across the country. The event aimed to strengthen fellowship among campervan enthusiasts, share experiences, and expand community networks. The regent expressed hope that the event would boost local tourism and the economy.

T Faisal Laksamana (65) and Dr. Indriati (61) from Padangsidimpuan plan a journey to Mecca in their modified 2022 Toyota Voxy campervan. The route covers Southeast Asia, China, Central Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, starting in July 2026. The couple has previously explored over 30 Indonesian provinces and 8 Southeast Asian countries.

Campervans are gaining popularity as a mode of travel not tied to schedules or hotels. Users can choose their own route, stop at any location, and save on accommodation. This format suits remote work and a flexible lifestyle.

iCar has announced pricing for the iCAR V23 electric SUV in Indonesia. The vehicle features a retro-modern design with a boxy body and 200 mm ground clearance. It is equipped with a Snapdragon 8155 chip and ADAS. Prices start at IDR 389.9 million for the rear-wheel drive version and go up to IDR 499.9 million for the all-wheel drive variant.

The vehicle is built on a Mercedes-Benz OH 1626 Euro 4 chassis with air suspension. Interior features include sleeping berths, a mini kitchen with coffee maker and refrigerator, a toilet with shower, and six passenger seats with legrests.
