In Brief

Three new camper models have emerged: the Yucon 63 H with a super-high roof, the Tonke Basecamp on a VW Transporter base, and the Wingcube prototype that transforms from a compact box into a two-room home

Yucon 63 H: camper with super-high roof

Yucon (a subsidiary of Frankia) has introduced the 63 H model based on the Fiat Ducato. The vehicle is 6.36 m long and 2.795 m high, featuring a super-high roof that provides a ceiling height of over 2 m, including the shower. It has an electric lift bed at the rear. Base price is from €70,300 (April 2026). It comes with diesel heating, a 200 Ah lithium iron phosphate battery, and an optional double bunk bed in the rear for €990.

Tonke Basecamp: camper on VW Transporter base

Dutch company Tonke will present the Basecamp camper on a Volkswagen Transporter base in May 2026. The model will be available with hybrid, electric, and diesel powertrains, including an all-wheel-drive version. Capacity is four people, with equipment including a kitchen, shower, toilet, and heated floor. Starting price is €50,668.

Wingcube prototype: transforms from box into two-room camper

A prototype caravan called Wingcube has been presented. When folded, it is a compact box; when parked, it opens up to form a living space with two bedrooms. According to the creators, the structure CAN accommodate up to eight people, has a foldable kitchen, and lacks an integrated chassis. Currently it is only a concept, and the design may change before market launch.

On A8 highway, drivers turned around and drove wrong way due to traffic jam after motorhome accident

On the evening of June 6, a motorhome accident on the A8 near Anger (Bavaria) caused a massive traffic jam at the end of school holidays. Several impatient drivers turned around on the roadway and drove against traffic, using the emergency lane as a personal escape route. Police stopped some offenders; they face heavy fines, several months of driving ban, and penalty points.
