Volkswagen has officially brought back the electric microbus ID Buzz for the 2027 model year after a one-year hiatus. The new Tourer trim (including Tourer 4Motion) is aimed at camping: it includes a fold-out mattress for two with pillows and bedding, window shades, ventilation panels, outdoor chairs and a table, plus an Overnight Mode for sleeping with climate control and electrical appliances. Similar equipment was previously available only in the European Good Night package.
All versions get updated ID.S 6 software with access to third-party apps (including YouTube and Spotify), a NACS adapter for charging at Tesla Superchargers, and a one-pedal driving mode. All-wheel drive availability is expanded with new Pro S 4Motion and Tourer 4Motion trims. All color schemes are now two-tone. The tow hitch has a capacity of up to 1587 kg.
Sales begin between August and late 2027. Prices are not yet announced; for comparison, the 2025 model cost from $61,545 to $72,540. According to one source, ID. Buzz sales in North America in 2025 totaled only 7,300 units before the model was paused. Some sources note the return was low-key: the press release focused on the Atlas, and all photos show the 2025 model with 2027 accessories.
