In Brief

Volkswagen has introduced the Tourer trim for the 2027 ID Buzz electric microbus, designed for van life. It includes a fold-out mattress, curtains, ventilation panels, outdoor furniture, and Overnight Mode. Sales begin in 2027.

Volkswagen has officially confirmed the return of the ID Buzz electric microbus to the US market for the 2027 model year after a one-year hiatus. Alongside this, the new Tourer trim aimed at camping has been announced.

Tourer trim features

  • Fold-out mattress for two with pillows and bedding
  • Window curtains and ventilation panels (previously available in the European Good Night package)
  • Outdoor chairs and table
  • Electrochromic roof
  • Overnight Mode for using climate control and electrical appliances while parked
  • Tow hitch with a capacity of up to 1587 kg

Updates for all 2027 ID Buzz versions

  • All-wheel drive expanded: Pro S 4Motion and Tourer 4Motion versions added
  • New ID.S 6 infotainment system based on Android with access to YouTube, Spotify, and third-party apps
  • NACS-CCS adapter for charging at Tesla Supercharger stations
  • One-pedal driving mode
  • All color schemes are now two-tone

US sales are expected to begin between August and late 2027. Pricing has not been announced; for reference, the 2025 model cost between $61,545 and $72,540. In 2025, only 7,300 ID Buzz units were sold in North America, after which the model was paused. According to some sources, Volkswagen did not hold a major launch event for the model's return, focusing instead on the Atlas.
