Volkswagen has officially announced the return of the electric ID. Buzz microbus to the US market for the 2027 model year after a one-year hiatus. The key addition is the Tourer trim (including the all-wheel-drive Tourer 4Motion), which transforms the van into a factory camper.
Tourer equipment
- Fold-out mattress for two with pillows and bedding
- Window shades and ventilation panels (previously available in the European Good Night package)
- Overnight Mode for running climate control and electrical appliances from the battery
- Foldable outdoor table and chairs
- Electrochromic roof (according to one source)
Updates for all versions
All 2027 ID. Buzz models receive new ID.S 6 software with improved navigation and third-party app support (YouTube, Spotify), an NACS-CCS adapter for charging at Tesla Superchargers, and a one-pedal driving mode. All-wheel-drive availability is expanded (Pro S 4Motion and Tourer 4Motion). Range remains unchanged at approximately 231 miles (372 km).
Pricing and sales
2027 pricing has not been announced. For reference, the 2025 model ranged from $61,545 to $72,540. One source estimates the Tourer trim at around $80,000. US sales are expected to begin between August and late 2027. In 2025, only 7,300 ID. Buzz units were sold in North America, after which sales were paused.
