A Globe and Mail columnist compared his 30-year-old 1995 Volkswagen Eurovan camper with a rented T6.1 California Ocean in Scotland. The T6.1 has a 150-horsepower diesel engine, a DSG automatic gearbox and averaged 7.7 litres per 100 kilometres. His own Eurovan, with 280,000 kilometres on the odometer, averages 10 to 11 litres per 100 kilometres. The latest T7 California full camper starts at 74,000 euros in Germany. A Volkswagen Canada spokesperson said the company would examine any import opportunity if regulations change.
