British Columbia's Minister of Post-secondary Education and Future Skills Jessie Sunner announced 64 new trades training spots at Vancouver Island University (VIU) for 2026/27, including 48 for RV technicians and 16 for carpentry. The move responds to local industry demand for skilled workers, as RV employers previously had to send trainees to the Okanagan. The ministry will invest CAD 241 million over three years for trades training across the province.
