Region invests half a million in motorhome tourism

In Sweden, a motorhome owner found an unknown man sleeping inside his vehicle. The police detained the man, who is suspected of a crime.

In Ystad, Sweden, traffic wardens face a dilemma as motorhomes increasingly use parking lots as campsites. According to traffic warden Jonas Ljungkvist, sleeping in a vehicle is not considered camping, but setting up a grill on a parking spot is not allowed. Motorhomes with various nationalities line up west of the sewage plant and at Spanienfararegatan in the harbor, with some staying for hours and others using the spots as a campsite.

Novacamp, which has sold motorhomes and caravans since 2015, is expanding its premises in the Western industrial area of Trelleborg. After a few tough years during the pandemic and the subsequent recession, sales are picking up again. Owner Benny Eklund notes that interest in motorhomes has increased, as they allow people to satisfy their desire for discovery.

On Monday evening, a motorhome with two people on board collided with a moose on highway 87 near Strömsnäs, Ragunda municipality. The alarm was received at 21:37.

A Swedish 18-meter motorhome, converted from a 2003 Scania CL94UA city bus, is for sale at 105,000 euros. The conversion took place between 2018 and 2022. It features a kitchen with induction hob, dishwasher, washing machine, a dining area, living room, library, guest room, bedroom, and bathroom. It has 14 solar panels (3.5 kW), a 420-liter fresh water tank, and a 420-liter gray water tank. The vehicle can accommodate five people and is designed for temperatures down to -25°C. However, in Germany, a C1 license may be required due to its weight exceeding 3.5 tons.

In Sweden, a hobbyist converted an old Volvo V70 estate into a caravan towed by a 2003 Volvo XC70. The trailer visually mimics the rear of the car, creating the illusion of a single vehicle. The project took several years and was completed this spring. Inside, the caravan features a double bed.
