New Pickup-Based Motorhome to Debut at Chengdu RV Show

China is seeing a surge in demand for motorhomes and camping. Exports of motorhomes from Rongcheng reached 1.06 billion yuan in the first half of the year, up 21% year-on-year, while domestic sales grew by over 40%. Motorhome rentals also rose, with occupancy in popular cities exceeding 70% in the last two months and orders up more than 50%. Authorities are introducing support measures, including easing road regulations and improving campsite infrastructure.

In the first half of 2026, China registered 12,153 self-propelled motorhomes, up 32.6% year-on-year. Registrations of caravans (trailers) fell to 3.09% of the market, while camper registrations (self-propelled) rose 64.2% to 5,315 units. Full-year registrations are expected to exceed 30,000, with the total motorhome fleet reaching 300,000 units.
