Honda has unveiled a prototype of the lightweight modular Base Station travel trailer, designed to expand access to camping. The trailer accommodates a family of four and weighs under 1500 kg, allowing it to be towed by compact SUVs such as the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, as well as electric vehicles.
Key features include a modular design with interchangeable accessories, a pop-up roof for increased interior space, and a futuristic look borrowed from the upcoming Honda 0 Series EVs. Power comes from an integrated solar panel and a lithium-ion battery. The prototype was developed at Honda's U.S. R&D centers. Sales are expected to begin soon at a competitive price.
