Sales and registrations
In 2025, China sold more than 20,000 motorhomes for the first time, according to a report by the RV committee of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (per a second source, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers). Sales of short-trip campers grew 85.6%, while new energy RVs for long trips surged 229%.
In the first half of 2026, 12,153 motorhomes were registered, up 32.6% year-on-year.
Infrastructure and regulation
Authorities extended the service life of small and micro rental RVs from 15 to 25 years and scrapped the mandatory retirement age for non-commercial models. The country has over 3,100 campsites, and Jiangsu province plans to create 78 RV parking areas at roadside service zones. In 2024, China recorded 4.35 billion independent tourist trips.
