Class C Motorhome Market: Size, Trends, and Forecast to 2035

A group of five Vietnamese tourists rented a motorhome for a 16-day trip to Southern Xinjiang, China, in May 2025. The rental cost was 110 million Vietnamese dong (about $4,400) for 10 days, including a driver. Total expenses per person ranged from 55 to 60 million dong, covering flights, accommodation, and food. The travelers noted that the motorhome saved time and energy during long drives between attractions, which often covered 300-500 km per day.

The Chinese road drama 'North of the Tropic of Cancer' is set for nationwide release on June 19, 2026. Directed by Zhao Hantang, known for '77 Days', the film follows three storylines centered on motorhome travel. Cast includes Simon Yam, Wang Ji, Zhao Hantang, and Jiang Yiyan. Filming took place in Tibet, Xinjiang, Qinghai, and other regions. It is the first Chinese feature film to use motorhomes as a key narrative element.

China's RV rental market is expanding: orders increased by 9.05% year-on-year in 2025, with a nearly 10% rise during the May Day holiday. The country has approximately 269,400 RVs, the highest in Asia, but penetration remains low compared to mature markets. On June 1, the Duku Highway in Xinjiang, known as 'China's most beautiful road', reopened to traffic. The 561 km route connects rivers, snow-capped mountains, forests, grasslands, and deserts. At the opening ceremony in Kuqa, 400 motorhomes, motorcycles, and off-road vehicles started the journey. Local authorities plan to enhance tourism services.
