China plans to expand insurance products for motorhomes
New measures to boost motorhome consumption direct insurers to develop policies covering various usage scenarios, including baggage and onboard property insurance, and to set reasonable premiums. In 2025, sales of self-propelled motorhomes in China exceeded 20,000 units for the first time; sales of campers for short trips rose 85.61%, while new energy motorhomes for long-distance travel increased 229%. In the first half of 2026, over 12,000 self-propelled motorhomes were registered, up 32.6% year-on-year. Industry participants note that insurers face challenges in applying traditional risk models due to a lack of loss data and differences in motorhome configurations and usage.
