Wang Jidong, vice president of the Beijing Association of Motorhome, Camping and Self-Driving Tourism, said China has over 280,000 motorhomes but only about 1,000 official campsites. In comparison, Europe has 22,000 campsites and the US over 16,000. In 2025, Europe registered over 215,000 new motorhomes, while the US sold 342,000. China's annual sales stand at 20,000–30,000 units. Wang noted the main bottleneck is the lack of standardized infrastructure, not production capacity.
