In June 2026, China's Ministry of Commerce and eight other departments included RV camping as a key area in the automotive aftermarket consumption for the first time. Jiangxi Province, leveraging its automotive manufacturing base and natural resources, is accelerating the integration of RV production, campsite construction, and tourism services. In 2025, China's camping core market reached 248.32 billion yuan, driving related industries worth over 14.4 trillion yuan.

Nine Chinese ministries issued a notice to stimulate the RV market, including measures for camping, conversion, and rental. The national RV fleet reached 268,000 units, with penetration below 0.1%.

During the summer peak season, demand for RV campsites in Yili (Xinjiang) far exceeds supply. Reservations must be made at least 30 days in advance, especially at popular spots like Sayram Lake. Early booking via official mini-programs or platforms like Ctrip can save up to 30% on costs.

Liangzhou District (Wuwei, Gansu) has launched several equipped RV campsites this summer, located by parks and lakes. The sites provide water, electricity, showers and waste disposal. Local authorities have linked the campsites with historical attractions (Leitai Han Tomb, Confucian Temple, Tiantishan Caves) and promote a 'lakeside parking + ancient city walk' route. The goal is to turn Liangzhou from a Silk Road transit point into a full-fledged tourist destination.

Changan and Fliggy have launched the Hunter Feizhu Edition, a hybrid off-road motorhome based on a pickup truck. It features a 2.0L turbo engine and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system with 555 Nm of torque. Priced at $24,980, the motorhome sleeps four and includes a pull-out bed, kitchen unit, and battery for off-grid living.

The Nandu River in Guangdong Province sees a surge of RVs from across China during winter. The riverside offers amenities including water, electricity, toilets, and overnight lighting. Visitors fish and cook their catch over open fires.
