Carstay registers record 90 RVs and forecasts booking surge for Golden Week

A 71-year-old Japanese owner built a DIY trailer specifically for a Wild Land roof tent over 2 m long, which could not be mounted on the Suzuki Jimny Sierra's roof. The trailer features a plywood platform, a slide-out table, and storage compartments, and connects to a side awning for quick camp setup. The owner previously used a conventional tent and awning but switched to this faster configuration to save time and effort, allowing him to leave immediately after waking up. The vehicle and trailer were displayed at the EASY DAY event held on April 18–19, 2026, at Muji Campagna Tsumagoi campsite.

Suzuki has announced its participation in the Tokyo Outdoor Show 2026, held from June 26 to 28 at Makuhari Messe, Chiba. The booth will feature the updated Hustler Tough Wild (released May 27) and Every J Limited (released May 8), both tailored for outdoor activities and car camping. Branded Suzuki merchandise will also be on sale.

Isuzu announced it will exhibit four outdoor-oriented vehicles at the Tokyo Outdoor Show 2026, including a camper van based on a pickup truck and other custom builds for active recreation. The event will take place in Tokyo.

From July 3 to August 30, 2026, on selected dates, the Ibukiyama Driveway in Gifu Prefecture will operate night hours. Temperatures at the summit can be 10°C lower than at the base. Overnight stays in motorhomes (車中泊) are permitted.

The Suzuka Kenko no Mori RV Resort in Suzuka, Nagano Prefecture, has reopened with 25 travel trailers. Each 37 sq m unit includes an induction stove, bathroom, and toilet. The site features a 12,000-liter water tank and portable batteries, enabling 10 households to live normally for a week during water or power outages. Operator Cumberland Japan aims to deploy the trailers as emergency housing after earthquakes and floods, and has been selected for a Ukraine reconstruction project to send trailers there by February 2027.
