China's motorhome and camping vehicle sales rose 28.7% year-on-year to 14,000 units in January–July 2026. Camping vehicle sales increased 59.2%, while new energy motorhome sales grew 134%. In the first half of 2026, 5,315 camping vehicles were registered, up 64.2% year-on-year, accounting for 43.7% of all self-propelled motorhomes. New energy penetration in this segment reached 18.4%, up from 0.3% in 2023. Growth is driven by lower prices: camping vehicles cost 100,000–300,000 yuan, compared with 400,000–500,000 yuan for traditional motorhomes. Due to a shortage of new energy chassis, manufacturers such as Ruifu are developing their own platforms, with electric and range-extended models planned for March next year.
