The Vixen 21 was produced from 1986 to 1989 by Vixen Motor Corporation in Pontiac, Michigan. Designed by Bill Collins, who also styled the DeLorean DMC-12, it featured a 2.4-liter BMW turbodiesel engine producing 115 hp, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox from Renault. The manufacturer claimed fuel consumption of 8 l/100 km and a range of 1,000 km. Despite its debut at the 1986 Detroit Auto Show and innovations such as a microwave oven, its high price of $43,000 limited production to fewer than 600 units before it ended in spring 1989.
