A man dropped his sunglasses into a pit toilet at Camp Edison and fell into the chemical tank while trying to retrieve them. Cal Fire rescued him within 10–15 minutes; he escaped serious injury.
On Saturday, July 27, around 2:30 p.m. local time, a camper at Camp Edison at the foot of the Sierra Nevada in California dropped his sunglasses into a vault toilet. While attempting to retrieve them, he fell into the chemical sewage tank.
Rescuers, including Cal Fire, extracted him within 10–15 minutes. A Spanish interpreter was used to communicate with the man. He suffered no serious injuries and was hosed down on site. The sunglasses are believed to have remained in the tank.
