Around 100 caravans of travellers (gens du voyage) have set up on the Peyrouse plain in Marguerittes (Gard department) since the weekend. They arrived on Saturday and plan to stay until June 13. The travellers forced access to the area and connected to water and electricity networks. The town hall provided waste containers for hygiene, but the mayor noted that authorities often feel powerless in such situations.
