On 22–23 April, around 60 caravans of travellers occupied the sports field and an adjacent plot in Parempuyre (Gironde). Mayor Henri Lagarrigue reached an agreement with the community allowing them to stay for a maximum of 15 days. Under the deal, the community will make a voluntary donation to the municipal CCAS (Social Action Centre). Bordeaux Métropole provided waste containers.
Community representative Antoine Flores said the move was prompted by unsatisfactory conditions at the previous site. He also highlighted a shortage of equipped stopping areas for travellers in the Bordeaux region due to incomplete implementation of the Besson law.
