Cliff House Holiday Park, affected by the wildfire on Dunwich Heath, will reopen on Friday at 10:00. The park, which lost electricity for nearly two weeks, will welcome visitors and lodge owners. The road will be closed just past the park entrance, and beach access is temporarily restricted.
The fire, which started on 29 July, became a major incident for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, involving all 600 firefighters. Although the major incident status was lifted on 10 August, the fire remains active. According to Suffolk News, the park, containing around 200 caravans, was saved but remained closed due to lack of power. The fire covered an area equivalent to 220 football pitches and led to evacuations. Firefighters created firebreaks, reducing the number of appliances to eight. RSPB Minsmere reserve remains closed until further notice. The National Trust reported destruction of rare species habitat and appealed for donations for restoration.
