Evacuations ordered as human-caused Arizona fire destroys RVs

First Baptist Church of Troy, Mo., and the Twin Rivers Baptist Association purchased and delivered two used travel trailers to families in western North Carolina left homeless after Hurricane Helene (fall 2024) and subsequent wildfires. The first 2002 fifth-wheel camper was bought with $8,000 raised by Sunday school classes (goal $5,000) and given to a family of three living in a tent. The second 2004 fifth-wheel RV, costing $8,000, was funded partly by the association ($4,000) and donated to a family displaced by winter wildfires.

Johnnie Walker RV, a family-owned dealership in Las Vegas since 1963, reported increased turnover of motorhome inventory, including Class C models. The company operates three locations, offers service and financing. About one-third of buyers come from other U.S. states.

Richard Smith, 81, works seven days a week and lives in an RV because he cannot retire, with $350,000 in debt and only $20,000 in his pension fund.

In Portland, Oregon, John and Trudy Benjamin, aged 77 and 67, filed a $250,000 lawsuit against their neighbor over sewage odors from a tiny house. Since August 2025, the smell from a camper toilet connected to a portable septic tank allegedly forced them to wear gas masks and caused one to fall and fracture a kneecap. The city cited a sewer connection violation in March 2026, but the neighbor claims the issue is resolved.

Keystone Heights RV Resort in Florida has installed Toptracer technology at its driving range. The system offers interactive golf games, swing analysis, and social recreation. Such technology is uncommon at RV resorts in the state.

The Florida and Alabama RV Park and Campground Association has awarded its 2026 Supplier of the Year to App My Community. The app enables park operators to automate messaging to guests about activities and events. It integrates with reservation systems CampLife, Firefly Reservations, Newbook, RMS, and Staylist, as well as Wild Energy for wireless meter reading. The app includes GPS navigation for campgrounds and serves over 300 parks in the US, Canada, Mexico, and the UK.
