On Thursday evening, an RV caught fire at a campground in Custer County, South Dakota. Custer County Search and Rescue director Sam Smolnisky noticed flames on the vehicle's roof while driving home with his family. He went to the source and knocked on the door.
The owners inside were unaware of the fire until the knock and got out safely. Smolnisky and several campers then grabbed hoses and put out the fire.
The Custer County Sheriff's Office said Smolnisky's quick actions prevented a larger fire and possibly saved lives.
