Woman in San Jose buys motorhome for $3,000, becomes victim of fraud and theft

Elon’s town council is considering amendments to its land management ordinance that would replace current restrictions on RVs, campers, and trailers. Under existing rules, RVs in residential areas must be garaged unless the owner obtains special permission. The new draft would allow parking in a residential driveway at least 20 feet from the road, but prohibits hookups to water or sewer services. Unlicensed or inoperable RVs would require a special use permit. The planning board unanimously recommended against the changes in August, preferring to regulate RVs under the town’s code of ordinances, but Mayor Emily Sharpe said that option had already been rejected. The council directed staff to make minor revisions before a final decision later this month.

Warwick fire crews tackled a camper fire on Thursday afternoon in Warwick, Rhode Island. The fire occurred at around 2 p.m. on Marblehead Street near Rita Street. The fire appears to have affected a nearby building. An NBC 10 News crew observed multiple people being taken into custody at the scene; authorities did not immediately share information about the incident.

A travel trailer being used as a residence was destroyed by fire Wednesday, Sept. 16, in the 2900 block of Merlin Road in Josephine County, Oregon. Rural Metro Fire crews responded at 6:26 p.m.; no occupants were injured. One resident attempted to extinguish the fire, but the extinguisher was too small. The fire did not spread to nearby vegetation; the cause remains unknown.

RV Connection has opened a new location at 8183 Seymour Highway in Wichita Falls, Texas. Founded in 1989, the company served the Lawton, Oklahoma area for over 35 years and has now expanded into North Texas. The dealership sells new and pre-owned RVs, as well as parts, and offers financing, service, and maintenance. Hours are 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, and closed Sunday.

Pennsylvania-based Freedom Campers has previewed a prototype cubic camping pod measuring 72 x 89 inches (183 x 226 cm) with integrated roof mounting panels. A two-person rooftop tent is mounted directly to these panels, creating a two-story layout for up to four or five campers. The pod can be carried in a truck bed or towed on a trailer. An official launch is planned soon through select dealerships. For reference, the non-cubic 72 x 89 module introduced earlier this year starts at US$4,540.

Jayco has expanded its Jay Feather Air SL travel trailer lineup with the 17RBSL floorplan. The model, nearly 22 feet long and 8 feet wide, is the largest in the series but accommodates couples or small families rather than maximizing sleeping capacity. It has a GVWR of 3,750 lbs, with 830 lbs of cargo capacity. The interior features a north-south bed, modular sofa, removable table, split kitchen with a rear refrigerator, and a full-width rear bathroom with shower and toilet but no sink. Amenities include a tankless water heater, LED lighting, 19,000 BTU heating, 13,500 BTU cooling, 30 gallons of fresh water, and a 10-foot awning. The new unit is priced around $22,000. Sales have started, but dealer availability and interior images remain limited.
