On the morning of January 27, on the D9 road in Charron (north of La Rochelle), a converted van motorhome left the road and sank completely into the canal, which is about two meters deep. Two occupants — a 50-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman — died. Traffic was fully blocked. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
